Get To Know Me
Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
Chronic diseases take a big toll on someone’s life. Two of my close relatives suffer from autoimmune diseases. Through my interactions with them, I have had the opportunity to witness how such diseases affected them on a personal level. This may not be as easily appreciated through clinical encounters alone. As such, I believe I have a personal appreciation of how chronic diseases can impact my patients mentally, emotionally and physically. In this regard, I think it is very important for me to take the time to listen to them and to involve other providers as needed to provide them with a multidisciplinary treatment approach for the best possible outcomes
What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
My patients should expect the best possible care from me. This entails listening to them and taking their concerns seriously to develop the best workup and treatment plans. To be fair to everyone, I do expect my patients to respect appointment times and to be on time.
How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
I am a big fan of sports in general. An ideal weekend for me would be to spend time watching football, basketball or soccer games. I also like to enjoy different food from all over the world and to spend time with my family and friends.
Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
Unfortunately, autoimmune diseases bring on a lot of changes and suffering to patients. However, this provides the opportunity to form long-lasting relationships and the ability to make a positive impact on someone's life. It is a great privilege to be able to provide my patients with the ability and the tools they will need to regain their functionality with the right diagnoses and treatment plans. That is the most rewarding part of my job and the reason I picked Rheumatology as my specialty.
