Kathryn Kerins, APRN

Kathryn Kerins has spent the last four and a half years working as a bedside nurse at both Danbury Hospital and UMASS Memorial Hospital working in the float pool and experiencing anything from medical units to ortho units, step-down units, extended care units and has enjoyed the vast exposure in nursing. Kathryn is a board-certified APRN in Adult Gerontology who is excited to provide honest, quality care to those with various oncology diagnoses. Kathryn enjoys creating an environment for patients that feels safe and supportive.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
Not only do I take a medical diagnosis seriously, but it is important to have a deep understanding of treating each patient as an individual and meeting them where they are physically and emotionally. It is vital to me that they understand that I am here to provide you with a safe environment.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
You can always expect the utmost honesty and respect from me as a provider. It is an honor to be trusted to care for patients at some of the lowest parts of their lives. I expect my patients to strive to be honest and upfront so I can help them to the best of my ability.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
I enjoy exercising and spending time with my family. My husband also works in healthcare so we enjoy going to Florida whenever we have time off.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
Oncology is a fascinating field and there is always something more to learn. I am most fulfilled by taking care of people on their hardest days as I know I can bring light and hope to them during a difficult time.
