Leah D. Ratchford, FNP

Leah Ratchford is a Family Nurse Practitioner, board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She received a bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Mansfield University in 2011 and a Master's Degree in Nursing from Binghamton University in 2017. Leah has experience in inpatient cardiology, student health and inpatient hospitalist medicine. She is dedicated to providing comprehensive and evidence-based care to each patient. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and twin boys.

I work collaboratively with my patients to determine their health goals and identify and minimize barriers to achieve their desired outcomes

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
My patients should expect an open and collaborative relationship. I expect my patients and their families to be involved in the process.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
I enjoy spending quality time with my family. My husband is the head baseball coach at Marist College so we are big Red Fox fans.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I enjoy inpatient cardiology because we have the ability to make significant improvements in quality of life through education and lifestyle modification. It is rewarding to have patients leave the hospital feeling better with the tools they need to care for themselves successfully.
