Shaira Cohen, APRN

Shaira Cohen, MSN, FNP, is certified by The American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She has a particular interest in breast and gynecological cancers. 

Before becoming a nurse practitioner, she dedicated her professional nursing practice to chemotherapy administration and patient education. Shaira chose her specialty because she loves teaching as much as she loves nursing.

An enthusiastic learner, Shaira is known for her compassionate care. She wants each patient to feel that their voice is heard and their health is well cared for. The most important thing her patients can expect from her is integrity. She strives to make a positive impact by educating her patients on the importance of early detection in disease prevention.

Shaira was born in Argentina and speaks fluent Spanish and English. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, dancing and traveling.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
They should choose me to care for their health as I work with an outstanding team including brilliant oncologists and devoted staff. We make sure things are done and cared for in a timely manner with the respect and seriousness our clients need. 

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Respect. I expect my clients to know I am reliable and here to assist with their needs. 

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
Teaching is a passion of mine, whether fitness through teaching Zumba or teaching future NPs how to study for their boards. 

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I chose oncology after shadowing an oncology RN while in nursing school, and she was so happy and loved coming to work every day, I wanted to feel like her. I got the opportunity to work in oncology and fell in love with it. I love the clients, staff, subject of work, location and everything there is about my job. I come to work with a smile knowing I work with an outstanding team that truly and passionately cares about their clients.
