About Abigail Spitzfaden
Professional Statement
Abby is originally from Westchester County, NY. She completed her Family Nurse Practitioner degree at Columbia University and is currently finishing her Doctor of Nursing Practice. She is board certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
She earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from The New School in New York City, when she also served as an EMT during the COVID-19 pandemic. Inspired by the nurses she worked with, she went on to pursue her nursing degree at Columbia University. Abby has experience as a pediatric nurse, caring for medically complex children.
Having grown up with close family members living with Type 1 diabetes, Abby developed a passion for endocrinology and is drawn to its complexity and multidimensional nature. During her time at Columbia, Abby was trained in the care of endocrinology patients. She believes in providing empathetic, evidence-based care and partnering with her patients to help them achieve their health goals.
Abby lives in Northern Westchester with her husband and their two cats, Marnie and Maisie.
Get To Know Me
Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
Patients should feel confident choosing me to care for their health because I prioritize listening, collaboration, and compassionate, evidence-based care. I strive to create a welcoming space where every patient feels heard and understood.
What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
I aim to partner with my patients to determine what their individual needs and goals are. I value curiosity, questions, and collaboration.
How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
I enjoy spending time with my husband and our cats, as well as traveling and hiking.
Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
The Endocrine system affects so many aspects of health, which makes it both complex and fascinating.
