Aesha S. Patel, DO

As a primary care physician certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians, Dr. Aesha Patel is a strong believer that providing compassionate care begins with creating long-lasting relationships with patients and prioritizing their personalized needs. Whether in-person or virtually, Dr. Patel offers her expertise in preventative care, mental wellness, women’s and adolescent health, and community education to children and adults of all ages. When out of the office, she finds happiness exploring every nook of New York City along with spending quality time with her nieces and nephews. As a daughter of Indian descent, Dr. Patel is fluent in Gujarati & Hindi and takes pride in indulging herself in the rich culture.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I am dedicated to improving the health of my patients and their physical and mental well-being. I will strive to be their advocate and liaison amongst specialists, insurance companies, pharmacies and other health agencies. I cherish my relationships with my patients and desire to build a long-lasting trust that extends beyond the patient to their whole family.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
I will always put my patients first and advocate for them as I would for a loved one. I will be straightforward while also maintaining compassion. I expect my patients to be open to being educated and enthusiastic about taking charge of their health. Primary care is all about teamwork. The patient is never alone.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
I enjoy spending time traveling along with hiking, admiring art, reading and spending quality time with my friends and family. I am especially always looking to get involved in community outreach programs to educate about preventative care and health screenings for those who may have difficulty accessing healthcare.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I chose family medicine because it encompasses the health of people from newborns to geriatrics. I enjoy getting to see and do a little bit of everything. The most rewarding aspect of this specialty is the ability to treat patients and their entire families throughout different generations and being able to provide most aspects of medical care all in the same place.
