Dr. Alex Afshar is an oral, maxillofacial, head and neck surgeon. He is fellowship trained in head and neck surgical oncology and microvascular reconstruction and board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery.. He specializes in cancer surgery, microvascular surgery, sleep surgery, orthognathic surgery, nerve repair, and facial trauma. He is passionate about removing malignant and advanced benign tumors of the maxillofacial complex and reconstructing post-ablative defects using free tissue transfer. Dr. Afshar incorporates virtual surgical planning, guided surgery, and surgical navigation into his practice, ensuring precision and optimal outcomes. Dr. Afshar is originally from San Diego and enjoys working out, hiking, and traveling on his free time.

Treating cancer patients and helping them navigate through one of the most challenging times in their lives is incredibly rewarding. It constantly reminds me of the importance of family, friends and maintaining a positive outlook.
