Aminata T. McKnight, FNP

Aminata McKnight is a board-certified family nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She has served as a healthcare provider in the Hudson Valley for several years and has an extensive background in medicine. Some of her previous areas of practice include family medicine, urgent care, intensive care, post-anesthesia care and medical-surgical units. Ms. McKnight received her master’s in nursing from Mount Saint Mary College (2019) in Newburgh, NY, followed by a voluntary one-year residency in Family Medicine in Community Health Centers throughout Hudson Valley.

Aminata has received several accolades throughout her nursing career. During her graduate studies, Ms. McKnight developed a teaching tool for patients with Heart failure, which was later adopted into practice by a local community hospital in Cortlandt Manor, NY. During her nursing career, she was previously nominated for the “Daisy Award” and received the “Most Caring Nurse Award” for outstanding nursing services. Aminata is excited to join the surgical services department at Vassar Brothers Medical Center and deliver the same quality of service.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
My patients can expect an evidence-based approach to care to ensure the best outcomes. With this approach, I expect my patients to gain a greater understanding of their treatment plan.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
Outside of work I enjoy travel, exercise, community outreach, and spending time with family and friends.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I selected this specialty because I enjoy caring for patients across the lifespan. This career has been fulfilling for me.
