Anca Ostas, MD

Anca Ostas, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician with specialized training in hospice and palliative care. She obtained her medical degree from "Iuliu Hațieganu" University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She completed an internal medicine residency at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, CT followed by fellowship training in hospice and palliative medicine at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I take the time to truly listen and understand what matters most to each of my patients. My goal is to support their care choices and quality of life in ways that align with their values.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
I have a deep commitment to whole-person care. I believe good care is deeply relational, involving close collaboration with patients, their families and care teams.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
In my free time, I enjoy reading, trying new recipes, spending time with my family and going on walks in nature.

 Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
Palliative Care offers the unique privilege of walking alongside patients and families during serious illness and guiding them with empathy.
