Anita Softness, MD

Dr. Anita Softness practices full-spectrum Family Medicine, providing care for both children and adults, including women’s health and prenatal care. She emphasizes prevention, wellness, and the management of chronic conditions. Additionally, Dr. Softness supervises the outpatient training of family medicine residents. By combining patient care with academic teaching, she remains current with evolving medical knowledge. Dr. Softness speaks both conversational and medical Spanish and enjoys serving underserved and immigrant populations.

I listen openly and compassionately to understand patients’ health goals and work together to achieve them. As an academic physician, I prioritize staying up-to-date with medical knowledge to provide evidence-based, high-quality care.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
I strive to listen to my patients, provide a collaborative treatment plan, and advocate for the most effective treatment that meets their needs. I expect patients to communicate honestly and follow our plans to the best of their ability.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
I enjoy hiking with my dogs, gardening in nice weather, reading when the weather is uncooperative, and helping my son with his organic vegetable farm.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I chose family medicine because I love caring for the whole person throughout their lives- especially when I can also care for their extended family. Building relationships, connecting with patients, and helping them to feel better is the greatest reward.
