Anna Freitag, MD, is a Board-Certified Endocrinologist, and fellow of the American College of Physicians, and the American College of Endocrinology. Born at Norwalk Hospital, and raised in Norwalk, Dr. Freitag was a Candy Striper at the Hospital, and graduated from Norwalk High School with highest honors. She graduated from Smith College with a degree in Biochemistry, and graduated from the University of CT School of Medicine, as a Medical & Surgical Scholar, receiving the Internal Medicine Award. She did her Interval Medicine Residency at The New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center, and her Endocrinology and Metabolism Fellowship at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. She was previously the Medical Director of the Stamford Hospital Diabetes & Endocrine Center, and the Chief of Endocrinology at St. Mary's Hospital. Past President of the CT Chapter of the American Diabetes Association, she was Awarded the Fairfield County Medical Association Patch Adams Award for Distinguished Community Service. She has been consistently named a Top Doctor in Endocrinology by The Connecticut Magazine since 2004.

Dr. Freitag is thrilled to be back at Norwalk Hospital and plans to spend the rest of her medical career here in her hometown.

I am a dedicated and caring physician, with 25 years’ experience as a practicing Endocrinologist.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Patients can expect dedication and expertise in caring for their endocrinologic needs. I expect dedication from them to their health and well-being.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
When I am not with patients, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and pets. I enjoy travel, photography, music, relaxation & spectator sports.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
Endocrinology encompasses the whole body and how the different organs and systems of the body work together. I treasure the lifelong relationships with patients.
