Barbara Misiano is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner in Adult health, with 33 years of nursing experience in medicine and critical care and most recently in Geriatrics and subacute rehabilitation. She has extensive experience with evidence-based practice and research as well as nursing management. Barbara places a high priority on communication and collaboration with colleagues, patients and families.

I am a conscientious and knowledgeable practitioner, dedicated to providing excellent, evidence-based care to patients/ clients in collaboration with their families and other healthcare providers.

I strive to listen and provide open, nonjudgmental, and effective communication.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
I enjoy travel, reading, running/fitness and spending time with family and friends.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
Being a nurse practitioner and a nurse is so rewarding because it allows me to help, support, and counsel as well as provide encouragement to patients and families during illness, and when most vulnerable as well as promote optimum health outcomes. It also allows me to improve my knowledge and proficiency through conferences and continuing education.
