Bernadene is a board-certified adult clinical nurse specialist. She earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from The State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2002. She enjoyed ten years at the bedside in various specialties such as cardiac telemetry, progressive care and medical surgical. She then obtained a Master of Science in nursing from Western Connecticut State University in 2013 and holds a national certification with the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) as an adult clinical nurse specialist as well as national certification with the Hospice and Palliative Care Credentialing Center (HPCC) as an advanced certified hospice and palliative nurse (ACHPN). Bernadene is now an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) on the palliative care consultant service caring for patients with various life limiting illnesses.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my children and family baking, cooking and shopping.
Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I chose this specialty because it is has been the most rewarding of my career thus far. My greatest reward is the honor of being part of my patients' difficult journies.
