Birgit Clague, APRN

Birgit Clague is an acute care nurse practitioner with prior experience in vascular and thoracic surgery, as well as hospitalist medicine. She has also served as an infectious disease epidemiologist, a Montessori school nurse, and a care coordinator for unhoused individuals in Houston, TX. Originally from Germany, Birgit moved to the United States in her twenties. She is the mother of three grown children, and together they have lived in places ranging from Massachusetts and the southern U.S. to Thailand, Australia, and China. Birgit is passionate about her work and enjoys connecting with her patients. She is committed to being a strong team player and providing the best, most current care possible.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
I like spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy hiking, kayaking, trips to the city, Tanglewood, playing with our two dogs, cooking and reading.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I like working in acute care, because it is challenging and rewarding. Being a hospitalist means treating a broad range of diseases and patients of all ages and backgrounds which keep me on my toes. I enjoy collaborating and learning from other providers.
