Dr. Brian Timko is an internal medicine physician, board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with a specification in Hospital Medicine. With over 20 years of experience, he firmly believes that the key to high-quality care relies on building trust with his patients and their families through frequent and effective communication regarding their plan of care. Medicine today is increasingly complex and can be overwhelming for most people. Through education, discussion and collaboration with coordinated efforts by all the members of the healthcare team, Dr. Timko works together with the healthcare team to create a hospital environment for patients that emphasizes caring and trust. Having been married for more than 20 years with 3 teenage children, he wants to treat his patients as how he would want his family members to be treated, with honesty, compassion and dignity. When not in the hospital, he enjoys hiking, traveling to new places with his family, and listening to live music whenever he can.

I provide thorough, detailed, compassionate care and make time to answer questions and explain the plan of care in a way that makes sense. I try to treat people as I would want to be treated myself as a patient in the hospital

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
The most important thing in medicine to be effective is communication on both sides with honesty and transparency. Otherwise, you cannot build trust and you cannot be effective in diagnosing and treating issues

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
I spend quality time with my wife and teenage children who I don't see enough of due to the constraints of work.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I enjoy solving problems and feeling that I was able to contribute at least a little to their benefit.
