Caitlin Maureen Lenehan Balint, APRN

Caitlin Balint is a board-certified nurse practitioner. She completed her undergraduate degree at Saint Anselm College with a degree in biology and received her associate's degree in nursing from Rivier College. She went on to get her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and then her master's in nursing at Western Connecticut State University. Before working for Newtown Primary Care, she was a nurse for 14 years working in the surgical and trauma ICU at Yale, the emergency room, the MSICU at Greenwich Hospital and the PACU. She cares for a wide range of patients with acute and chronic illnesses.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
Prior to becoming an APRN, I was a Registered Nurse for the past 13 years in various Emergency Departments, Intensive Care Units and Surgical Recovery Units. I served as a STAR (or SWAT) nurse, where I was part of a specialized team that responded to the most acute emergencies throughout the hospital. I possess a breadth of knowledge and a whole-patient approach to her practice.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Honesty is the answer to both of these questions. I am compassionate and direct, focused and professional. The most effective and efficient way to get you the help you need is to treat honesty as a two-way street. I have seen and heard it all, I just want to help you get better.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
I enjoy spending time with my family and going for hikes. I love watching my daughter play soccer. I also love working out. Running has always been a big part of my life and any chance I get I try to get out there

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
Family care, allows me to spend time with a greater number of patients experiencing a greater number of health concerns. In this way, I have an opportunity to help a greater number of people experience physical relief of symptoms, peace of mind and improved well- being.
