About Carla M. Pruden

Professional Statement

Carla M. Pruden MD, MPH, CHSE received her MD and MPH at Tufts University in Boston, MA. She went on to complete her pediatric internship and residency at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in the Bronx, NY. She solidified her interests in medical education and simulation during her pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Medical Center.

She currently holds joint appointments as Assistant Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine/ Traumatology at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. In addition to her work as a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Attending, she holds appointments to the Division of Excellence in Patient Safety and Clinical Quality and as the Medical Director of the Simulation Program at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. She maintains instructorships in Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, and Disaster Management and Emergency Preparedness. She has been a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare since 2010, with active participation on multiple committees. Additionally, she is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator with special interests in Resuscitation Teamwork, Human Factors, and Inter-Professional Education.
