Christine Meche, CNM

Christine Meche has held the position of affiliate at Yale Medicine in full-scope midwifery. She earned both a Master of Science and a Post-Graduate Certificate from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, specializing in Nurse-Midwifery and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. Additionally, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southern Connecticut State University. Her prior experience as a registered nurse includes roles in maternity and newborn care at Yale New Haven Hospital, as well as labor and delivery services at the Connecticut Childbirth & Women’s Center in Danbury, CT. Ms. Meche also continues to serve as a sexual assault forensic nurse across several emergency departments within the greater Hartford area.

Christine is committed to holistic, trauma-informed patient care, advocacy, and continuous professional development. Her clinical interests encompass chronic vulvovaginal disorders, vulvar dermatoses, pelvic floor dysfunction, hormone replacement therapy for peri/postmenopausal individuals, hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), and related comorbidities. She is an active member of the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease (ISSVD) and the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH)—both global leaders in research, education, and clinical practice focused on vulvovaginal wellness and sexual health. Furthermore, Christine is a designated member of the Northeastern US Ehlers-Danlos Society Network of Excellence, collaborating within this multidisciplinary organization to provide referral services and resources for patients with EDS.

Beyond her clinical practice, Christine is actively engaged in advocacy and volunteer work. She volunteers with Tight Lipped, a grassroots initiative serving those affected by chronic vulvovaginal disorders and pelvic pain conditions, as well as participates with her local Medical Reserve Corps.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
I recharge myself by biking, weight training, practicing yoga, cooking, reading, and relaxing at home with my cat. I'm also an avid traveler, frequenter of NYC, enjoy the ballet, and love browsing thrift shops, antique venues, and flea markets.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I’m passionate about caring for people with Genito pelvic pain, vulvar disease, and hEDS — often under-diagnosed and under-served conditions. It’s deeply rewarding to offer validation, hope, and a path toward healing.
