Daniel G. Kaufman, MD

Dr. Daniel Kaufman is a board-certified gastroenterologist, with extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of a broad array of gastrointestinal pathology. Particular clinical interests include colon cancer prevention, disorders of the small intestine, general hepatology and inflammatory bowel disease. He was recently named one of "Hudson Valley's Top Doctors" for 2023. 

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I feel that is of the utmost importance to develop a partnership in the short- and long-term management of gastrointestinal issues. Often multiple avenues may be pursued to address problems and I do my best to foster a partnership for shared decision-making.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
I spend time trying to learn about my patients from available records before visits and procedures to maximize the productivity of our time spent together. I will always offer my honest and evidence-based opinions respectfully and hope to earn your respect in turn.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
I am an avid (albeit mediocre) golfer and a huge fan of the Yankees, Knicks and Jets. Above all, I love spending time with my family, particularly traveling with my wife, son and daughter.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I had a strong interest in gastrointestinal pathology and the varied challenges that I face on a daily basis. I derive great satisfaction from the procedural component of my field, often having the opportunity to directly identify and address problems actively.
