Daniel Mark Labow, MD

Dr. Daniel Labow is a fellowship-trained surgeon and the Carmen L. and Peter Buck Endowed Chair of Surgery at Northwell Health. He specializes in surgical oncology and cares for patients with primary and metastatic malignancies including esophageal, gastric (stomach), pancreas, bile duct, gallbladder, colon and rectal cancers as well as melanoma and sarcomas.

Dr. Labow also cares for patients with primary and metastatic liver cancer, offering the latest surgical techniques, including histotripsy. Histotripsy is a new noninvasive treatment for liver tumors that doesn’t require any incisions or radiation. He also has an international reputation for using HIPEC (heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy) to treat metastatic malignancies.

His devotion and training allow him to understand the full spectrum of treatment of cancer and guide each patient along the appropriate treatment pathway built uniquely for them.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I approach each patient individually and tailor the care to meet their specific needs. I have many years of experience in a broad range of diagnoses, and pride myself on being available and committed to my patients.

Open and honest communication is critical for a successful doctor-patient relationship. I will always listen to their needs and goals, and we will determine the best possible course of action together.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
I like hiking, biking and spending time with friends and family

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I love the combination of diagnosing and treating complex cases, being able to make a tangible impact on the disease and having a long-term relationship with the patient. Getting to know my patients over the years is the most satisfying and rewarding part of my job.
