About Dominique Pape

Professional Statement

Dominique Malacarne Pape, MD, is a double board certified OBGYN and Urogynecologist. She is passionate about connecting with women to offer them optimal quality of life through care for their various pelvic health needs. Her clinical interests include pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and fecal incontinence, genitourinary fistula, urethral diverticulum and postpartum pelvic dysfunction. She provides many office-based treatments and procedures and is skilled at many minimally invasive surgical modalities including vaginal, laparoscopic, and robotic approaches.

Dr. Malacarne Pape completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at NYU Langone Medical Center. She then continued at the institution to complete a fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS), where she received teaching awards as a resident and fellow.

Dr. Malacarne Pape's research efforts have focused on neuromodulation for bladder pain, for which she led a clinical trial. She has conducted various qualitative studies looking at patient perceptions of treatment options and surgical experiences. Dr. Malacarne Pape has an extensive career in medical education and has served as an OBGYN Clerkship Director at New York Medical College. She has been recognized both locally and nationally for her teaching efforts, including through the APGO Excellence in Teaching Award.

I am committed to providing care that aligns with best practices in the field of Urogynecology, which strives to individualize care through a comprehensive approach.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Open dialogue, transparency and effective communication are key components to providing shared decision making while discussion patient needs. My goal is to make patients feel comfortable confiding in me so we may get to the root of their issue and work together to improve their quality of life.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
I enjoy cooking, traveling and spending time with my family.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
Urogynecology is a beautiful mix of art and science, and there is no "one size fits all" approach to pelvic health and wellness. It gives me joy to help my patients significantly improve their quality of life and take ownership of their health and wellness.
