Emily Otis Taylor, MD

Dr. Emily Taylor is a primary care physician who sees patients in partnership with resident physicians at the Poughkeepsie location. Prior to joining us, she worked in New York City for 15 years. She has expertise in behavioral health, care of medically complex patients, and medical education.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I see patients in conjunction with resident physicians, and together we are able to craft plans with our patients to promote health through evidence-based practice. Our team-based approach allows for a multifaceted approach to patient care.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
We know that effective team-based medical care is led by the patient. I think patient education empowers patients to pursue healthier choices and to be active members of their own care.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
I spend quality time with my husband, cooking, going to a baseball game, or enjoying a day trip to see a Broadway show. Podcasts, puzzling, and reading are my favorite solo hobbies.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I enjoy training the next generation to understand and enjoy the close relationship that a primary care doctor has with their patients, as well as teaching them the longitudinal care skills that are important for any physician.
