Emma Kate Silverman, FNP

Emma Silverman, NP is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner who has worked at Vassar Brother Medical Center as a Registered Nurse on an acute critical care floor. There she developed skills of assessment, communication and collaborative care that she takes pride in, and Emma will continue to maintain and nurture these skills in the outpatient primary care office.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
With care and compassion, I believe professional patient provider relationships are imperative to creating, implementing and maintaining realistic goals for patients-focusing on wellness, prevention and long-lasting care.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
The most important thing my patients should expect from me as their provider is for me to listen and to hear them. Establishing a collaborative plan of care that works for their individual needs, acknowledging and respecting their beliefs, and readiness for change are all important within my focus of care. As a provider my expectations are the patient’s willingness to be open to education and respectful communication.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
When I am not caring for patients, my time is spent creating memories with my daughter and family.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
Primary care allows for patient relationships to be built along with providing education, two of the things I love the most when it comes to healthcare, allowing for implementation of successful patient outcomes which in turn is the greatest reward.
