Get To Know Me
Why should someone choose you to care for their health
As a nurse, my training has been patient-focused from the very beginning and I continue with this approach in my practice to this day. I take time to listen to patient’s concerns and collaborate with them to develop a health plan that we can both agree on. Putting the patient first is always my priority.
What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
I am committed to my patient’s success and my mission is to help patients achieve their health goals in what every way I can. Whether that is taking a “slow and steady” approach or opting for a complete health overhaul, I want my patients to know that I am a part of their team and will work as hard as they do to achieve those goals.
How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
In my downtime, I enjoy coffee on my front porch on weekend mornings with my family, Tuesday night picnic dinners at the beach and riding my bike around town (riding the Peloton in inclement weather). I also love cooking big holiday meals and finding healthy alternatives to my favorite comfort foods.
Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I have been practicing primary care for several years and have found it very rewarding in many respects. In my experience, patients often do not exhibit outward symptoms of their illnesses, for example, patients may not know they have elevated blood pressure or cholesterol. While treatment yields better numbers, patients may not notice a big difference in how they feel. With obesity medicine and weight loss, I feel like I have a much more meaningful and personal impact on a patient’s health and can help them feel better on many levels.
