Gael Gonzalez-Peltier, MD, is a resident physician who was raised in the Caribbean, an experience that profoundly shaped her values, perspective, and approach to medicine. Growing up in a close-knit island community instilled in her a deep appreciation for resilience, cultural humility, and the importance of caring for the whole person—not just addressing the disease. Dr. Gonzalez-Peltier places great value on building trust and fostering strong relationships with patients from diverse backgrounds. She is particularly attentive to how social, cultural, and economic factors influence health outcomes and patient decision-making.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Patients should expect me to be an advocate for receiving the best health care possible. They should also expect a respectful and empathetic physician. I also expect my patients to be respectful in turn.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
I enjoy my valuable personal time with my family and dog, mostly enjoying the outdoors and different cuisines

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I chose family medicine because it encompasses care from infancy to end of life. The greatest reward is seeing patients' health improve from the interventions we discussed during our encounters.
