About Heath A. Walden
Professional Statement
Dr. Walden is the chief of acute care surgery at Danbury Hospital. He trained at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center – Harvard School of Medicine and Hofstra North Shore – LIJ School of Medicine. He believes that trauma and acute care surgery is a team sport. It is not one physician that saves you, but rather a collaborative team of doctors, advanced practice providers, nurses, PCTs, physical therapists and case managers that leads to excellent outcomes. He enjoys spending his free time with his friends and family.
Get To Know Me
Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I practice patient-centered care and will always do my best to make sure that patients and their families understand their options and help them navigate difficult decisions when they are at their most vulnerable.
What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
I value honesty. I will always be honest with my patients and their families regarding prognosis and plans of care and I expect the same from them.
How do you spend your personal time when you're not caring for patients?
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends in the outdoors, whether that is playing golf, skiing or going to the beach.
Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I chose trauma and acute care surgery as a career because I want to be involved in the care of patients from the moment they arrive at the hospital through the operating room or ICU all the way to discharge and home.
