Dr. Ipek Alpertunga is a board-certified endocrinologist with over 8 years of clinical experience. Originally from Istanbul, Turkey, she earned her medical degree from Koc University School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut, followed by fellowship training in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
I enjoy quality time with my family and staying active through biking and tennis.

Endocrinology offers a unique combination of intellectual complexity, long-term patient care, and rapidly evolving technology, especially in the field of diabetes. Managing chronic conditions requires deep physiological understanding, nuanced diagnostic skills, and a commitment to ongoing patient education, which aligns well with how I like to practice medicine. The greatest reward of this specialty is guiding patients through complex, chronic conditions and seeing their health and quality of life improve over time
