James Earl La Voy, PA-C

I have trained in many fields including orthopedics, urology, hospital medicine, emergency Medicine and neurosurgery which has given me a broader understanding of health problems and concerns. My experiences in the Army formed my early adulthood and gave me an appreciation for training to be the best that I can be. Additionally, I worked in the trades of mechanics, carpentry and cooking which has given me a great understanding of the varied careers of my patients. I grew up in Alabama and came to New York City more than 20 years ago as an artist.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I understand many different livelihoods and exposure to many different cultures. This gives me a great capacity to understand a variety of people and their problems. This also works well with my varied experiences in medicine to provide an understanding position as a provider and gives me the ability to help people understand the care which they are being offered.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
My patients should expect understanding, honesty and trust, As I expect the same from them.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
I spend my time taking care of my home in the country, traveling and providing community health care.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
Trauma Surgery allows me to use all my experiences in one place which is a reward in itself; but the greatest reward is when a patient thanks me.
