Get To Know Me
Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
My compassion as a person extends into my role as a physician, enabling me to connect with patients and their caregivers, in the short time I am with them, to provide comfort and confidence to them that they will be safe and given the best care possible. In addition, my education and experience further solidify my qualifications to be an excellent care provider.
What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
The most important thing patients should expect from their professional relationship with me is that they will be safe during their perioperative period under my care. I expect patients to be transparent about their medical conditions and medications, and the following of the rules of the operating room i.e. NPO status.
How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
I spend a great deal of my time with my family, both immediate and extended. This involves biking, walking, attending lectures concerts or performances, or simply having a chat and cup of coffee.
Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I chose my specialty of anesthesiology for reasons too many to list. I will say one of the top reasons was I saw it as a specialty that allowed me to have a family and spend the amount of time with them that I felt was needed to be a good mother, sister, daughter and wife. Anesthesiology allowed for a position such that I did not have to take overnight calls; I was able to be home every night with my future children. This was extremely important to me. In addition, I knew anesthesiology was a field that would always be evolving, due to the pharmacology and technology incorporated into the profession. My desire to continue to learn and grow intellectually has always been in my field of vision. My greatest reward is when I see I have put a patient's fear or pain to rest.
