Get To Know Me

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
As a native of the Hudson Valley, Dr Xenakis is dedicated to the community in which he was raised. His goal is to positively impact every patient he meets, through his commitment to medical excellence and a personal, patient-centered approach.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
My objective is to be thorough and candid in dialogue with my patients, answering all their questions and assuring that they have a solid understanding of their illness. My patients will feel as though they grasp the treatment options available to them. I want to make sure we develop a solid rapport to maximize our therapeutic relationship when discussing management options. I expect my patients to be partners in their medical care.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
I spend my free time with my wife and dog Oliver, a “Shorkie” or Shih Tzu Yorkshire Terrier mix. In addition to this, we enjoy time outside hiking in the Hudson Valley. I also can prepare an excellent baklava. Most importantly, I am a three-time fantasy football champion.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I choose internal medicine, specifically a career as a hospitalist because of the impact I can have on my patients when they are acutely ill. Sleeping in a new place, with new people around, and so many unknowns about your medical status is a very stressful situation for both patients, as well as their loved ones. Helping patients through this difficult time is challenging, but ultimately exceedingly rewarding.
