Jean Aguila, DNP, is a Board-Certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, certified by the ANCC since 2020, with extensive experience in cardiothoracic surgery, collaborating with cardiac surgeons to manage acute and life-threatening conditions. She earned her master’s in nursing from Hofstra University and furthered her education by obtaining her RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assist) and Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Hofstra. She is skilled in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care, managing chronic diseases, and promoting preventative care.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I employ a patient-centered approach, empowering patients through education and preventative care. Additionally, I have experience managing diverse populations and am proficient in both English and Spanish.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
My patients should expect communication on their level as well as honesty, empathy, and understanding of what they may be experiencing. They should expect the delivery of holistic care that addresses not only their physical health but also their emotional and psychological well-being.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
When I am not caring for patients, I spend my valuable time with my family.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I chose this specialty due to my passion for previously working in the operating room and witnessing my first open-heart case. It was remarkable to experience and gain a deeper understanding of the pathophysiology involved. The greatest reward lies in maximizing the balance of efficiency and compassion that defines quality care and patient satisfaction.
