Jean Gabriel Pichardo Genao, MD

I'm a first-generation doctor from the Dominican Republic, fluent in both Spanish and English. I was also a teacher at my medical school while I was preparing to come to the United States for residency, so teaching is a passion of mine. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, watching movies, traveling and getting to know new cultures.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I always put my patient's health and dignity first. Everybody has a story to tell, and my focus is the person in front of me, not the underlying disease.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Honesty and respect are important values for me, which I also expect from my patients to ensure a healthy patient-doctor relationship.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
Trying new activities and traveling to new places with my family. I love swimming and going to the movie theater.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
Internal Medicine allows me to interact directly with a wide variety of people and to manage an extensive array of conditions.
