About Jenny Rebecca Amy McLaughlin
Professional Statement
Jenny Rebecca, CNM, (she/her), is a certified nurse midwife and lactation consultant. Her calling to midwifery was inspired by the profound importance of supporting individuals as they navigate life’s pivotal moments and transitions. Her journey to become a midwife has taken her to the dense forests of the Peruvian Amazon, a rural birth center in northern Uganda, public hospitals in Honduras, home birth settings in New York City, and a rural hospital in Vermont. These diverse experiences have underscored the importance of midwifery care in improving outcomes by addressing systemic disparities, promoting racial and cultural concordance, and advocating for inclusive, supportive healthcare environments. She is dedicated to providing full spectrum midwifery care and supporting the unique sexual and reproductive healthcare needs of people of all genders and backgrounds.
Get To Know Me
Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I offer a safe, non-judgmental space where people can show up as they are. I understand that everyone’s background and healthcare needs are different, and I take a personalized approach to care that honors those differences.
What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Patients can expect a true partnership in their care, rooted in shared decision-making. My role is to offer clear information and guidance, so patients feel empowered to make informed choices. I ask that patients bring their questions and feel free to speak openly about their concerns so we can work together in a space of trust and respect.
How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
I love wandering through the souks of North Africa and just am as happy in the forest or by the ocean. I have a new love for deep lake swimming. Feeding people is my love language and I enjoy creating epic feasts. I cherish watching Grand Sumo tournaments, food field trips in Queens, or late-night dancing with my partner
Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I chose midwifery because of the deep privilege of walking with people through some of the most significant transitions of their lives. The greatest reward is witnessing the resilience, strength, and wisdom people carry. Supporting individuals through childbirth, fertility journeys, menopause, relief from persistent gynecologic concerns, or while navigating barriers to equitable healthcare is a constant reminder of the strength people bring to their care and the meaning of this work.
