Jonathan S. Kirshner, MD

Dr. Kirshner is board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases. He earned his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. He then completed further training in New York City, including residency within the Mount Sinai system and fellowship at Montefiore/Einstein College of Medicine. He served as an Assistant Professor at Columbia University Medical Center and an infectious disease attending for New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I approach each case on an individualized basis. This includes obtaining a comprehensive history and incorporation of the latest research to formulate recommendations that best meet each patient’s specific needs.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
I am a strong proponent of maintaining open communication to provide appropriate education and to address all questions/concerns. I do my best to ensure all patients understand their disease and treatment regimen thoroughly!

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
I enjoy spending time outdoors with my wife and our Mini Goldendoodle. I love all sports, with a particular passion for college basketball. Go Hoos!

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
My specialty allows me to make a difference in other’s lives! Infectious disease encourages me to investigate and work through complex stories to reach a diagnosis and best treatment plan.
