Karly Leiman, PA-C

Karly Leiman, PA-C earned her Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience with a minor in Women’s and Gender studies from Hamilton College in May of 2022. Following graduation, she completed a research fellowship at Bar-Ilan University’s Gonda Brain Institute in Israel in neuropsychology and neurodevelopment. She then earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Marist University in May 2025.

Karly is passionate about the intersection of neuroscience and surgery—two fields that challenge her intellectually, demand precision, and offer the opportunity to make a tangible difference in patients’ lives. She is driven by the complexity of the neurological system, the immediacy of surgical intervention, and the privilege of guiding patients through critical moments in their care.

Karly values patient education and advocacy. She is committed to delivering evidence-based, personalized, holistic care grounded in an understanding of each patient’s identity, lived experience, and the broader social and cultural factors that shape health. Her clinical background spans various surgical subspecialties, pediatrics, emergency medicine, urgent care, and sports medicine settings, equipping her to care for patients with diverse needs. A positive and outgoing individual, Karly values collaboration and a team-based approach to patient care. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys traveling, exploring new music, trying new recipes, hiking, swimming, biking, and spending time at the beach with her dog, family, and friends.

I am a kind, honest, and collaborative provider who values building strong partnerships with patients as they work toward healing and living fully. I take a team-based, patient-centered approach to care, aiming to meet individuals where they are—clinically, emotionally, and personally. You can expect honest, wholehearted, personalized care. I expect you to engage actively so we can partner as a team to take care of the whole you!

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
I enjoy the beach, hiking, biking, swimming, exploring Hudson Valley, traveling, listening to music, and spending time with friends, family, and my dog. I was a competitive swimmer for most of my life so staying active is very important to me. I also love cooking and trying new foods!

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
Neurosurgery is an evolving and impactful field. I have always been drawn to neuroscience for its innovation and intricacy, and I pair this with my love for surgery—a hands-on, team-based specialty that thrives on high-stakes challenges. In neurosurgery, I have the privilege of supporting patients through every step of their journey: meeting them at the start of their care, comforting and treating them in the OR, and helping them regain strength during recovery. The greatest reward is seeing patients return to their lives with restored function, independence, and quality of life
