About Kathleen A. LaVorgna
Professional Statement
Dr. LaVorgna is both a practicing physician and the chair of surgery at Norwalk Hospital. She is a board-certified general surgeon with special expertise in surgical emergencies, trauma and breast disease. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Connecticut representative to the American Medical Association and an active member of the Connecticut State Medical Society—all organizations that champion the rights of all patients to receive excellent care. Dr. LaVorgna believes that surgical care involves treating the entire person, not just the “part” that is damaged or diseased. She feels that the doctor/patient relationship is key, partnering with her patients to carefully explain their conditions, respecting their wishes and guiding them through the process of recovery to wellness.
Get To Know Me
Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I have known my community for years, I know my specialty well and I love what I do.
What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Truth and honesty on both our parts, so that we can work together to create a care plan that is successful.
How do you spend your personal time when you're not caring for patients?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends.
Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I love to "solve the problem" (make the diagnosis) and "fix it," but the true reward is my patient's return to health.
