Kimberly Ann Mathers, FNP

Kimberly Mathers, FNP is a newly certified Family Nurse Practitioner and recently completed her master’s degree at Mount Saint Mary College in Family Health. Kimberly has worked for Vassar Brothers Medical Center for 30 years, starting in the billing department, working her way up to nursing. She has been a nurse for 19 years on the Cardiothoracic Step-Down unit and is looking forward to expanding her expertise by providing a patient centered environment where patients can feel they are a part of their care decisions and outcomes.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I believe in providing patient and family centered care which allows patients to make decisions based on an informative plan of care.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
The most important thing a patient can expect from me is that I will listen to their concerns with an open mind and without judgement.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for patients?
I spend my free time with my family enjoying the outdoors and the many animals we care for.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I chose family health so I could care for the whole family not just a certain age group. The greatest rewards have come from understanding how families interact with each other while considering the differences in culture and diversity.
