Krista Kohler, MD, MALS. is a board-certified emergency medicine physician. Dr. Kohler attended the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Washington and received her specialty training at Virginia Tech-Carilion Clinic. She also holds a graduate degree in liberal studies with a focus on globalization and food politics, which she earned from Dartmouth College. She has been lauded for her patient care, receiving nationally ranked Press Ganey scores in the 99th percentile. Dr. Kohler is passionate about patient care, evidence-based medicine, and health education. Outside of her work in the ER, Dr. Kohler manages a telehealth company and is the co-founder of Rappahannock Health, translating science into clinical medicine and education for health restoration and longevity.

I am trained in evaluating and treating critically ill patients.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
My patients can expect that they will have a physician who will listen to them and be their advocate.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
I enjoy spending time outdoors especially train running and biking. Food and cooking are a passion of mine and of course, spending quality time with my husband and twin girls.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I chose this specialty to help people in their time of greatest need and this can be both the most challenging and rewarding aspect of my work.
