Laura Twist, MD

Dr. Laura Twist is an OB-GYN, board-certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG). She provides comprehensive women's health care through pregnancy, office-based gynecology and gynecologic surgery (including minimally invasive surgery and robotics). She finds great satisfaction in helping people understand their bodies. Dr. Twist takes time to listen to her patients and realize their unique health goals. She is a skilled surgeon and considers it a privilege to be able to operate on the human body. When not working, Dr. Twist stays busy with three little kids of her own.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I enjoy getting to know my patients and taking into consideration each person's individual needs. I will collaborate to find a care plan that works for everyone.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
It is important to me that my patients understand their medical care. Conversations should happen in a safe, judgment-free way. My office is a safe space to ask questions and I will do my best to give honest, respectful answers.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
Outside of work, my husband and I are busy with three little kids (6yo, 4yo and baby!). We moved here from Montana, and love spending time outdoors -- camping, hiking and kayaking. I grew up in southern Westchester, and my husband is from Long Island. We can't wait to explore more of the region, and share it with our kids!

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
Someone once asked me to describe what I do in 4 words, I said, "Take care of women." That's what I love to do -- from pre-teen and teen years, through the rollercoaster of childbearing, to menopause and beyond. It is important to me to help women understand their bodies and natural physiology. The human body is amazing! I am a surgeon too, and appreciate being able to "heal with steel" in the operating room. Taking care of women means taking care of families and communities -- and that's what I love to do.
