Lauren A. Wildrick, CNM

Lauren is a Certified Nurse-Midwife whose passion is to be with individuals and their families as they navigate through this world regarding their health, childbearing and relationships. Lauren is a firm believer that midwifery care changes lives for the better in a way that encompasses individuals' entire selves as it has changed her life and continues to change the lives of the people she has the pleasure to serve. Lauren has been a Registered Nurse in a variety of settings including med-surg, intensive care, and high-risk labor and delivery and is now pleased to be able to offer care as a Certified Nurse Midwife with her Master’s Degree from Stony Brook University, training in both private midwifery practice and in busy metropolitan settings.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
It's amazing when you can have a provider who has been through similar things in life and who truly promotes equity in healthcare. I've been blessed to have midwives who have genuinely cared for me as a person and not just their patient- heart-filled care is what I will give to every person I see.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Equity and heart-filled care are two-for-one expectations individuals should have when under my care. In return, I expect honesty from my patients in order to best help in all areas of concern.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
Whether it's bringing a kid to drama or to running practice, you can be sure there is always something to do with five kids and a dog in the house. I think that one day I'll have to write a book with all the wild stories about life with kids. I also love to sing and you'll likely hear me at the very least humming a tune on a regular basis because "A singing heart is a joyful heart!"

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I had my second child when in nursing school and received so much encouragement from my instructor who was a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner to seek out a midwife to assist me in reaching my goal to have a successful vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). The midwife who delivered my daughter as well as the midwives who then delivered my three sons painted the picture of what I needed to do in life and that was to be a midwife. Amongst many things, my midwives instilled me with education and empowerment. My greatest reward is knowing that individuals have become empowered to make educated decisions for themselves.
