Lisa Phuong, DO

Lisa Phuong, DO, holds a board certification in Internal Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Connecticut, she then continued on completing her fellowship in medical oncology and hematology at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY.

Dr. Phuong's clinical and research interest is focused on breast malignancies. She has had several peer-reviewed articles and abstracts published, as well as poster presentations at national cancer conferences. She most recently conducted research analyzing the correlation between cyclin-dependent kinase 4 and 6 inhibitors and body composition in women with metastatic breast cancer.

Dr. Phuong is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
My patients' needs come first. I treat each patient as a person, ensuring and that they are involved in making treatment decisions that work best for them.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Shared decision-making, open communication and compassion are all important. I advocate for my patients and want them to feel comfortable in voicing their thoughts/concerns.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
I enjoy doing arts-and-crafts with my family, traveling, baking and playing the piano.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
Being able to develop long-term relationships with patients and guide them through their journey is the most rewarding aspect of medical oncology.
