Get To Know Me
As a surgeon, I realize many factors go into a patient's decision on surgery. I collaborate with patients to discuss all options for their care.
What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
I expect patients to know that the care they are receiving from me is the exact level of care I would give to my family members.
How do you spend your personal time when you're not caring for patients?
I love wrestling and playing video games with my kids, doing repairs around the house and going on day trips with the family on weekends.
Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I chose colon and rectal surgery because I personally have Ulcerative Colitis and by being in this specialty, I can use my perspective as a patient to help others in similar or worse situations.

Dr. Casasanta is a great listener and explained everything clearly. I mentioned my tailbone hurt and he said he thought I should get an MRI. So happy he did! I have a fractured tailbone! Plus, he called me personally, with the results of the MRI, which was nice to hear from the doctor instead of an assistant.

Because of a screw up by the surgical department I was not informed of my surgery ahead of time, Dr. Casasanta calmed my fears, carefully explained the surgery and alleviated my concerns. He is a very caring person.
