Maria Teresa Scinico, MD

Dr. Scinico practices Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine to the adult population with sincerity, honesty and empathy. Her clinical interests include ECMO, Pulmonary hypertension and Interstitial Lung Disease. She prides herself on having a warm, welcoming and relaxed practice for all patients whether they are seen in the office or telehealth. Dr. Scinico is originally from Northeastern Pennsylvania but has deep roots in the Connecticut and New York regions due to her residency training in Western Connecticut. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family in Fairfield County, cooking, reading, cycling and running.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Patients should expect engagement, a deep, sincere level of empathy and honesty from me as their chosen clinician. I expect patients to meet me halfway regarding their level of treatment and be willing to have open and honest conversations regarding their disease process.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
I like spending time with family, cooking, reading and exercising.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I suffered from asthma as a child and understand the complexity of the disease from a patient's perspective. In addition, I enjoy and relish applying the pathophysiology surrounding complex disease processes not only in my Pulmonary practice but also in the Critical Care realm.
