Mario A. Pinto, DO

Dr. Mario A. Pinto, DO is an internist and is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He grew up in New York City, where he attended The City College of New York (CCNY). Through his work experience, interest in biology, scientific research and interest in building personal relationships, he decided to pursue medicine as a career. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in biology and received the Jonas E. Salk Award scholarship for medical school. 

He attended the A. T. Still School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona, where he discovered the importance and developed a passion for primary care, followed by a three-year residency in internal medicine with a focus on primary care at NYU Langone Brooklyn Campus. Upon graduation as a co-chief resident of the internal medicine primary care track, he was elated to join the Internal Medicine Associates of Westport.

I place my patients and their families first and develop a treatment plan based on their individual needs.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Open, honest dialogue regarding medical concerns to achieve mutual health goals is most important.

How do you spend your personal time when you're not caring for patients?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends, swimming, martial arts (Kung Fu and Muay Thai), Jazz music and vintage movie posters.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
My passion for primary care began in medical school, followed by joining NYU's inaugurating class for the internal medicine primary care track. Upon becoming co-chief resident of my graduating class and receiving both the Resident of The Year Award and The Prasad Award for The Art of Medicine Excellence in Patient Care, there was no doubt that primary care medicine is what I was meant to pursue. I am elated to bring that passion to Internal Medicine Associates of Westport.
