Get To Know Me
Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I believe strongly in responsibility as an educator and resource for patients. Patient autonomy is paramount in my practice; I prefer to take a collaborative versus authoritative approach when providing care.
What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their
professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Patients can expect comprehensive care and follow-up. I am invested in the well-being of each person for whom I provide care. This includes a more holistic approach to reproductive health as well as referral to appropriate resources. I expect patients to be engaged in their care. I find that provider/patient relationships are most successful when they are collaborative and involved in informed shared decision-making.
How do you spend your valuable personal time when you are not caring for
patients?
My personal relationships are most important to me. While alone time is important to recharge, I am happiest when I am with my family and friends. Physical activity outdoors comes in at a very close second. Rain, shine, hot or cold, you will inevitably find me outside daily.
Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
My decision to become a midwife was informed by my belief in patient-centered, evidence-based, compassionate care. I wanted to take care of people in a way that supports autonomy, empowerment, and dignity in life's most vulnerable moments.
