Melissa A. Saad, DO

Dr. Melissa Saad is board certified in emergency medicine with a long background in emergency medical services (EMS). She is the EMS medical director for Danbury Hospital. Through her career, she has learned that medical care is a combination of art and science. Taking proper care of a patient includes listening first and foremost. Her areas of expertise include emergency medicine and critical care. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities and taking care of her hobby farm and gardening. She is fluent in Portuguese and conversant in Spanish.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I'm always available in the emergency room (ER).

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Mutual respect, honesty and good communication are importat. It is hectic and unpredictable in the emergency room, and understanding and patience is key.

How do you spend your personal time when you're not caring for patients?
I love to spend time in nature doing different activities.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I love variety and being challenged, which is why emergency medicine is perfect for me.
