Nargis Sultan, FNP

Nargis Sultan is a Family Nurse Practitioner, board-certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Center with a specialized interest in Surgical Oncology/Thoracic Surgery. Her work experience as a Hospitalist and Vascular Surgery Nurse Practitioner entailed assessing, diagnosing, treating acute/chronic medical conditions and managing the care of medical/surgical patients. Nargis's focus is on creating a nurturing environment in simplifying complex medical/ surgical procedures. I spend quality time with the patient and their families in educating them about the disease process and its management. 

Why should someone choose you to care for their health? 
When caring for my patients, not only I like to consider their physical health, but also their emotional, mental and social well-being. Serving my community through work is very rewarding. 

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them? 
I have empathy, and compassion and deliver effective communication that focuses on prevention and disease management. I find it very effective to partner with patients in terms of managing their care 

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients? 
I like gardening, hiking and love spending time with my family. 

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward? 
I chose surgical oncology because I enjoy the complexity and ever-evolving aspect of cancer care. I find it very rewarding to care for patients when they are most vulnerable. Together, we can work to fight their cancer and keep their lives as pleasant and meaningful as possible. This makes my career not only intellectually, but also emotionally fulfilling.
