I combine my surgical skill with my ability to communicate effectively with patients and make sure they are involved in their care from start to finish. It is a team effort.
What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Patients appreciate my attention to detail and dedication, spending as much time as it takes to get to know them and ensure that my medical and surgical care of them is exactly what they need.
How do you spend your personal time when you're not caring for patients?
I enjoy cooking or searching out new restaurants in addition to spending quality time with my family. I also enjoy TV, music and movies, too.
Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
Surgery allows me to help patients accomplish their goals, whether that is weight loss, or getting rid of pain from a hernia or gallstone. My patients’ satisfaction is its own reward.

I could not believe that Dr. Alper spent a full HOUR with me giving me all of the information about bariatric surgery and getting my history as well and answering my questions and concerns. I don’t think I’ve ever spent an hour with a doctor! He was so wonderful and down to earth! Thank you!
