Peter X. Zhang, PA

Peter Zhang PA-C is a board-certified Physician Assistant by the NCCPA. He has been a surgical PA for 4 years, with experience in bariatric, vascular and plastic surgery. He gained experience with medical weight loss during his time with the bariatric surgery practice, providing medication/nutrition programs for patients who may not want or qualify for weight-loss surgery. To improve his surgical skills, he enjoys being in the operating room as a first or second assistant in various surgical sub-specialties. Outside work, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing Pickleball.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
Patients should choose me to care for their healthcare because I will treat them as if they are one of my family members who are recovering from surgery or dealing with a chronic condition that requires hospitalization. I provide comprehensive patient care by providing family/patient education and resources surrounding preventive care.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
Patients should expect to trust my clinical judgment is competent and that my treatment plan for them is evidence-based. I hope the patient follows through with the plan and makes a complete recovery.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
Spending time with my 4-year-old daughter, taking hikes outdoors and playing Pickleball.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I chose surgery because many times it provides a direct treatment for a diagnosis that is made with either imaging or a physical exam. The greatest reward is to see patient improve after an operation and improve their quality of life.
