Pradnya D. Patil, MBBS

Dr. Patil completed her training in hematology and medical oncology from the Cleveland Clinic where she subsequently practiced as a thoracic oncologist for several years.

She is passionate about clinical and translational research and currently serves as the Director of Thoracic Oncology Research. She believes in utilizing the most advanced treatments including immunotherapy, targeted therapies as well as novel treatments through clinical trials to attain the best possible outcomes for her patients.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I believe in patient-centric care and work closely with other sub-specialists, patients and their families to create an individualized plan for each patient that incorporates their beliefs and goals.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
My patients should expect compassion, empathy and excellent clinical care based on the most up-to-date evidence. I hope to build a long-lasting relationship with my patients based on mutual trust. I expect my patients to bring any concerns that they may have to me so that I can address them to the best of my ability.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family. We have two young boys and enjoy traveling and hiking.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
The field of oncology is one of the most rewarding subspecialties of medicine. I usually enter my patient’s lives at a particularly vulnerable time and have the privilege of helping them and becoming a part of their lives as they navigate their cancer journey. Very early in my career I was drawn to the ever-evolving science of oncology and strove to be a part of research that translated to improved outcomes for my patients.
